A beautifully executed marquetry picture depicting a charming street scene in the historic town of Lauterbourg, France. Dating from around 1970, the composition showcases the remarkable skill of the craftsman, with the entire image created from carefully selected natural wood veneers, each chosen for its distinctive grain and colour.
The scene captures the picturesque village architecture, with the church spire and clock tower rising above traditional buildings, framed by mature trees and a winding pathway. The varying tones and figured veneers create impressive depth and texture without the use of paint, highlighting the artistry of the marquetry technique.
Signed by the artist to the lower right-hand corner and presented in its original quality moulded wooden frame, this decorative piece is ready to hang and would make an attractive addition to any home or collection.
