Fine Regency Mahogany Chest of Drawers, c.1820

A fine Regency mahogany chest of drawers dating to circa 1820, of elegant proportions and exceptionally good colour.

Constructed in richly figured solid mahogany, the chest is fitted with two short drawers above three full-width graduated drawers, all retaining attractive brass lion's mask ring handles and traditional key escutcheons. The drawers are oak-lined with hand-cut dovetail construction and run smoothly.

The beautifully selected mahogany displays striking flame figuring across the drawer fronts, complemented by a well-figured single-piece top and matching mahogany sides. Raised on elegant splayed bracket feet with a shaped apron, the chest possesses the refined yet understated lines characteristic of the Regency period.
