A fine Louis XVI period ormolu mounted console table, dating to circa 1810, of elegant proportions and refined neoclassical design.
The rectangular white marble top sits above a well-figured mahogany base fitted with two drawers, retaining their original gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts. The drawers are adorned with richly cast handles and decorative escutcheons, featuring classical motifs including foliage, ribbons and anthemion detailing.
The frieze and uprights are further embellished with finely chased ormolu mounts, enhancing the architectural symmetry of the piece. The table stands on slender, tapering sabre front supports, a hallmark of the Louis XVI style, lending both grace and lightness to its overall form.
